Dad here; there is a scripture “when I would do good, evil is present with me”. I know the context of these words as they are written, but sometimes words have different meaning to different people according to where they are at on their particular journeys.
I’m sure that you have noticed a drop off in the frequency of Charlie’s posts, but let me assure you, we are as dedicated to the message as we have ever been. The challenge is that right now, Charlie and I are in a season where we know what we are supposed to be doing, but the universe seems to be throwing up roadblocks to actually accomplishing those things.
But this is a journey, not a race. I look back on the first trip I took out west those many years ago; no destination, no safety net, no “bug out” plan, and I remember it now as the trip of a lifetime, one that continues to this very day. But at the time, the 103° heat, the sleet and hail, the hard ground, the self doubts, none of this felt like “the trip of a lifetime”.
But everything that happens in our lives is an event in and of itself, but is also an experience that is setting us up for the next major adventure, or more importantly, the next awakening. Who knows? What we view as the “evil’ that is presently with us could be the very thing to propel us forward.
I’ve heard that when a baby bird is slow to leave the nest, the mama bird will start removing the down with which she had originally lined it. In making the cozy crate a bit less comfortable, she encourages her reluctant offspring to begin to test their own wings and eventually fulfill their own true calling.
Steve Harvey says it best in the video below; you’ll never know what’s in your parachute if you don’t jump.
We be of one blood, ye and I.
