There are three types of people on this planet: people who don’t like dogs, people who like the “idea” of dogs, then there are dog people. The second category seems to be the largest, but fortunately the mindless fanaticism of those of us in the third more than compensates for the other two.
We dogs are simply descendants of wolves, and as such, we thrive on the interaction with the rest of the pack. The worst form of abuse for a dog is not necessarily infliction of pain, but simply that of neglect and boredom. It blows my mind to see someone bring home a cute puppy, only to later put him/her out on a chain to be forgotten; one of these days, dad will probably find himself behind bars after a confrontation with one of these heartless cretins.
Anyone who thinks that dogs don’t experience emotion obviously doesn’t have enough sense to remember how to put the toilet paper on the roll(over the top, of course). Just a few examples of those experienced at the Casa del Whackos:
Jealousy? Just let dad mention another dog’s name, let alone even act like he’s going to give some dog lovin’s, and the green eyed monster immediately joins the already crowded cast at the Casa.
Guilt? You won’t see much of that around here, as we all know we can do no wrong, regardless of the devastation we visit upon the interior of the Subaru. Although Pride can be used to describe the feeling of accomplishment after Bull
Taco leaves an impressive pile of Tootsie Rolls for dad to find with his bare feet.
Curiousity? Desire? Lust? Avarice? Greed? Gluttony? If you want to see all these emotions exhibited simultaneously, just open up the fridge, or rattle some plastic in the kitchen.
Joy? This is easy; just let dad even ACT like he is going roll the motorcycle out of the garage. It doesn’t matter how engrossed I am in my flouncing in the ditch; I can hear the “click” of the ignition and the whine of the starter from a mile away, and I come charging. Between the yowling, charking, and the mad rush to leap up on the bike, dad has resigned himself that the start of every ride will result in eardrum and/or soft tissue damage.
But Trust is the emotion that we convey the best. No matter what life throws at us, it can be immediately forgotten with just a touch of the master’s hand, and all the negative emotions are replaced with happy, relaxed, calm, peaceful emotions; at least until Mia makes a move on the rawhide, or Bull Taco decides he wants to reclaim his spot on dad, then peace goes out the window, and it’s time to get it on…
Ya’ll come see us this summer if you ever find yourself in Arkansas; Bashful is not an emotion we have a problem with!
Chark Diem!
Third type of girl.
I am definitely the 3rd type. My dogs are family. I have only owned rescues… Or I should say they owned me. Lol
I love this picture…. ears flapping in the wind, eyes on the road / adventure ahead… pure living in the moment 🙂
I am the third type, dogs, cats. Every stray around knows ” go to Debbie she will feed you and take care of you even if the cats bite her”
I’m right there with you dad, we’ll probably be in the same cell block..
Yep! I am part of a pack myself. ❤
I rescued this big hunk of dorkiness after being chained up for 2 yrs out of 2 1/2 yrs of life. He wouldn’t even go out in the back yard to do his business, he was so scared of being chained up. So we walked 6-8 times a day, not fun in AZ heat. But after doing that for two weeks he relaxed and discovered the pool. But he was the best ever!!!
Forgot, his was Teddy Bear, for the reason’s you would imagine. 🙂
Since you are referring to him in past tense, assume he passed away. So glad he knew love even if just for a short while.
Should have said that. Yes, he passed almost 3 yrs ago. I think about him all the time. He was the biggest love bug even after all he went thru.
I love this picture!
Ah, now I can get my day started. Another jewel of a report, CB.
I proudly consider myself dog people! Dogs rule!! If you’ve never had a dog, you just won’t get it!
I love all my rescues. Each has their own personality and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Can’t wait to turn the calendar to May and see Charlie looking right at me.
Ok I’m a cat person but I luuuuv dogs. It’s the presidential election in my country and I chose my candidate :
Chained Dog Awareness NZ work tirelessly in the hope of eliminate life-chaining of dogs in New Zealand. I would love to help but i wouldn’t be able to stop myself getting angry with the people who refuse to accept the help that is offered to them and their dogs.
The only reason I’d consider getting back in a big truck (which my husband keeps wishing I’d do), would be if I had a chance to come down to your neck of the woods again. Just to meet all of you at the Casa. Or, y’all. He doesn’t get that way any more, his boss doesn’t allow dogs in the truck, and I wouldn’t leave ours home. So I’ll just have to do with going with you vicariously.
As always CB, no one says it better than you! XOXO
There’s a whole bunch of us that will share “Dad’s” jail cell.
Love this. You make me smile. God bless on all of your journeys
4 types: dog family. My dogs are my family and they always will be..
