The Charlie Bravo Story

Their Way

The hummingbirds are here
And so I fill another feeder
My friends, I’ll say it clear
I’m just a slave, was once a leader
I used to live out on the road
I traveled each
and every highway
That was then, but this is now
I live in their flyway

My sugar stores are running low
But then again, too low to mention
To finance feeding the feathered hordes,
I’ve sold my blood without exception
Every organ I have two of
Especially those semi-retired
I’m selling ones
to raise the funds
That are required

I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, I’ve had my share, my share of losing
A rosy future, was once my goal
My status now, has got me bluesing
Between hummingbirds
The dogs and Jude
I have no choice, it’s so confusing
And now, as tears subside
It’s so amusing

For what is a man, what has he got?
When dogs rule his life, then he has naught
To sleep the way he truly feels
And not the way of one who kneels
Let the record state
I faced my fate
And did it their way.
